Among the sites to visit, Gorkha Durbar tops in the list. This historical palace is one-hour walk from downtown Gorkha. The intricately designed palace is strategically located over a fortified hillock. On the southwestern side of palace lies the temple of Goddess Gorakh-kali adjoining cave that claims to shelter the statue of Gorakhnath famous as the Tantrik sage. The locationof this place is perfect to have beautiful views of Mount manaslu, Himalchuli and several other mountain peaks of Himalayan Range.
In the centre of Gorkha Bazaar lies the museum transformed from Tallo Durbar built in 1835. The museum encompassed a wide spectrum of historical artifacts dating back to the days of Prithvi Narayan Shah and his descendants. Inside the museum you can find cannons, rifles, arrows, spears, and the traditional “panas”. “panche baja”, chaityas and other ancient relics with several paintings, horoscope, religious-economic gallery depicting the Shah Kings and their countries.
Gorkha can be reached by surface from Kathmandu, pokhara and almost from all the borders between Nepal and India. It is situated about 137 km from Kathmandu and 85 km from Pokhara. Gorkha bazaar accommodates every range of hotels, guest houses, lodges and restaurants.

Manakamana is one of the most popular pilgrimages in Nepal with a temple thought to one of ht manifestations of the Hindu Goddess Bagwati. People believe Manakamana Devi fulfills the wishes of her devotees, thus calling it as wish fulfilling Diety presenting you with a reward on reaching the shrine in both spiritual and physical exhilaration.
The temple area presents stunning view of deep valleys, terraced fields, Manaslu, Himalchuli and Annapurna ranges Himalayas.
Temple is accessible in about 10 minute by cable car starting from Kurintar which lies about 105 km west of Kathmandu on the highway to Pokhara. Before the introduction of cable car people used to go Manakamana by a long strenuous walk from AbuKhaireni. There are hotels and lodges available for overnights.

This village is the home of the first martyr of Nepal Lakhan Thapa Magar who was one of the first prominent resistors against the rule of the Rana Dynasty. He propagandized his political ideology to destroy the Jang Bahadur Rana regime, to form a free state and army. In 1874 (1932 BS), Lakhan Thapa was martyred by Rana government on 27 February 1877 by hanging. His town Bungkot is about 10 km away by road from Gorkha Bazaar making convenient for people to drive or walk about 3 hours to see his town. Villagers offer warm hospitality at private homes, offering local organic food and on request presenting magar cultural show.

Mount Manaslu at altitude of (8,156m) is the eighth highest mountain in the world opened in 1992 for Trekkers. This area offers combination of rich culture heritage, unsurpassed beauty, and biological diversity. Crossing over its thundering waters with the help of ropes and suspension bridges, passing beneath towering rock cliffs, and though dense jungle. The topography changes each day ascending through number of climatic zones into ruggrd territory and hastily joining the barren lunar landscape of the Tibetan plateau. The Larkya La is high point of the trek at 5235m. This trek requires special trekking permit binding trekkers to compulsorily go through registered trekking agencies of Nepal.
Tsum Valley:
It is hidden valley situated in northern territory of Nepal reaching to the border land to Tibet surrounded by the Boudha Himal and Himal Chuli to the west, Ganesh Himal to the south & Sringi Himal to North. It has been recently opened for Trekkers. Crossing through beautiful village in the heart of cultural and traditional hub, where you can find the real and true image of ancient habitant still untouched by outer world. This begins from Gorkha Bazaar to Arught, which is easily accessible from Kathmandu and Pokhara. This trek requires more than two weeks time and must be arranged with fully tanted camp trek as there are no teahouse facilities.
Dharchey Manaslu Trekking:
This lower Manaslu trekking offers unique varities of antive culture, wildlife, flora, fauna with magnificent panoramic view point to admire the lofty mountains of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Buddha Himal, Himalchuli, Manaslu, Annapurna and much more. This trail is located out of tourist traffic thus, having no teahouse facilities, but after every two hours walk you find human settlement where you can have setter and can get local . Tented camp trekking is a compulsion which you have to arrange in organizing your trek.

This is unique for being the beginners spot for ancient Kings in their pursuance of their kingdom’s settlements in Gorkha Region. At that time they used to conduct a race and according to the rules the winner was nominated as the King. You can still find the relics of those times in the surrounding for the Palace. The distance from Gorkha Bazaar is 35 km via Chapetaar towards Luitel or Hermi Bhanjyang. There are regular buses heading to this region from Gorkha Bazaar. The local people are always welcoming towards all visitors and curious to show the monuments and traditional hospitality.
