Located at an altitude of 4,380m above sea level, the three-day strenuous trek to Gosaikunda Lake is well worth it. The serenity you feel upon reaching the top can best be described as awesome. Gosaikunda, in Rasuwa district, is also called the frozen lake, since it remains frozen in winter. Passing through the steep and challenging trails of Laurebinayak pass, the pristine blue lake ringed by picturesque views of the snow capped mountains is a reward awaiting you when you reach the top.
You encounter smiling friendly people, beautiful villages with traditionally build stone houses and magnificent waterfalls all along the trail. Enthralling as it may seem the Gosaikunda area is decked with 108 lakes. However, the most visible and interesting among them are Bhairab Kunda, Saraswoti Kunda and Naag Kunda. The unique climate of the place offers an opportunity to enjoy the clouds in a mysterious game – from total overcasts to clear skies within five to 10 minutes – that allows you a glimpse of the lake in all its glory.

> Patients of high blood pressure and asthma are suggested not to trek.
> A trekking stick is a must, which you would have to carry yourself.
> There is a chese factory at Chandanbari if you want to carry cheese treat back home.
> Horses are available from Chandanbari to Laurebinayak if you would prefer a ride.
