    Kanchanpur, the far western gateway of Nepal is well known for Barasinghas of World famous Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve, lush green natural forests, different religious an dholy destinations, unique diversified culture, tranquil picnic and sight seeing spots and easy access to the famous cities of India like Delhi, lucknow, Nainital and so on.     Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve

    It is Nepal’s best known & most accessible Wildlife Reserve having one of the largest herd of Swamp Deer of Asia. Shuklaphanta wildlife Reserve is invariable associated with two endangered species the Royal Bengal Tiger and the great One-horned Rhinoceros.
    The reserve offers a variety of experiences with its diverse interior and abundant wildlife, forests, streams and rivers, lakes and several large phantas (grasslands), for which the park is named. Sal trees dominate the forests as well as Khair-Sisso forests are found along the riverside and abundant areas. The reserve provides habitant for about 350 species of birds including Sarus(Crane), Swamp Francolin,Grass Owl, Warblers Flycatcher, and the endangered Bengal Florican. The reserve is home for 21 species of fishes including the Mahaseer, Rahu and Tenger. The reserve also houses a diverse population of reptiles like the Marsh Mugger Crocodile, Cobra and Python.

    Bedkot & Jhilmili lakes are most famous lakes of the national standard in Kanchanpur besides other attractive lakes like Banda Rani, Sundev, Gadbijala, Puraina, Shiva Bantaria, Lamotal, Tara etc.

    Multi Suspension Bridge

    Suspension Bridge in Mahakali River which joins one and only Island of Nepal near Shuklaphanata Wildlife Reserve is one of the main attractions of this district having length of 1496.5 meter. It is becoming famous for sunbathing, swimming, rafting, picnic spot, sight-seeing.

    Worshiper from different parts of Nepal & India visit the Siddhanath Temple (Siddha Baba) during special occasion (Purnagiri Mela), as it is believed that a pilgrimage to Prunagiri-Siddhababa ensures fulfillment of all that the pilgrim desires. Siddhanath , Baijnath, Shiva Dham, Saketdham (Bishnu Mandir), Siddha Baba,Jhilmilatal, Ghatal Baba, Bedkot, Niglasaini, Babathan (Dodhara), Bandevi Temple, Gyashi Smaiji, Tripura Sundari Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, Baddi Malas are famous religious places of Kanchanpur below that Ugratara Mandir, Khaptad Baba, Ghodaghodi Temple and Shaileshwori MAndir are the famous religious place of Far west Nepal. Festivals are scheduled in accordance with the Nepali calendar and the phase of the moon, so they can very over a period of almost a month with respect to the Gregorian (western) calendar. The annual festival cycle, according to the Nepali year, is Rakshya Bandhan, Teej, Gaura, Dashain, Tihar, Bishu and Maghi, Holi (Phagu).

    How to get here?
    Mahendranagar can be accessed by direct bud departing every afternoon from Kathmandu, Pokhara and other parts of Nepal. Above that lights are also available from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj & Dhangadhi. After the flight, travelers can catch the buses or jeeps to Mahendranagar. Regular buses, jeep and micro services are available from all part of Nepal to Mahendranagar besides the reserved transportation services.
